Direct Cremations, sometimes referred to as Pure Cremations are when the deceased is simply collected by the funeral director and taken to a local crematorium without family attending, or any service prior to the cremation.

There are variations on this as sometimes at time of need family members struggle with the concept of leaving a loved one, or not being part of the process. Crematoria now offer options to accommodate called attended, or unattended direct cremations. Unattended is the cheapest option, whereas the attended direct cremations are slightly more, but still less that a normal cremation with full service and people attending.
